Recognizing Stroke Awareness Month: Our Commitment as a Primary Stroke Center

May is Stroke Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on one of the leading causes of death and serious disability worldwide. At Huntsville Memorial Hospital, we’re proud to be recognized as a Primary Stroke Center—a designation that reflects our commitment to delivering fast, expert care when every second counts.

A stroke can happen to anyone, at any time, and rapid treatment is critical. As a Primary Stroke Center, our team is specially trained to diagnose and treat strokes quickly and effectively using advanced imaging, evidence-based protocols, and around-the-clock emergency care.

Remember that sleep quality is just as vital as quantity. Poor, disrupted sleep—like from insomnia or sleep apnea—can significantly increase stroke and heart disease risk. Aim for consistent, restful sleep to support your heart and brain health.

We encourage our community to learn the signs of stroke and act immediately by calling 911 if symptoms appear. The faster someone receives care, the better their chances for recovery. Remember: Time lost is brain lost.

This May, join us in raising awareness about stroke prevention, early recognition, and the importance of emergency response. Together, we can save lives.
