We are so excited to showcase one of our amazing nurses at HMH. Shelby Gay’s journey in her nursing career is one that is of determination and dedication to caring for patients in her community. We are very thankful that she is a part of the HMH family. Here’s that journey in her own words:
I graduated from Blinn College with my Associates Degree in Nursing in 2014. After graduating and passing the state board, I accepted a nursing position in Pediatrics .
While working in pediatrics, I continued my education at UT Arlington and graduated with my BSN in 2015. After working for two years in pediatrics, I felt like it was time to try something new.
I came to Huntsville Memorial in 2016, and enjoyed two years on the surgical floor. I had great co-workers and doctors who taught me and helped me grow to be part of the nurse I am today.
I left HMH and accepted a nursing job In Conroe. I worked in Conroe for 4 years to expand my knowledge and gain more experience in trauma and orthopedics .
In 2022, I decided it was time to come back home to HMH, where I accepted a full-time charge position on the surgical floor. Coming back was always in my plan. Not only are we striving to provide the best care to our community, we are close like a family and care about each other and our patients. Throughout my years in this field I have had some of the best co-workers and mentors who have pushed me to be the best I can be. I love this community and hospital – everyone from the physicians and all other departments work together and help each other daily. If it wasn’t for the foundation of learning at HMH, I wouldn’t be the nurse I am today. Caring for others has always been my calling, and I strive to be calm and caring everyday.
This rural community, my family, and all of my co-workers have supported and encouraging me to be all that I am.
I am blessed daily and so thankful for everyone I have encountered along this journey.
Please help us congratulate Shelby on this honor!!!
