2026 Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Award
Huntsville Memorial Hospital is proud to earn national recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association with the 2026 Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Award, alongside two prestigious specialized distinctions: the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
The Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite designation highlights our emergency and clinical teams for delivering rapid, life-saving intervention when every second counts. To achieve this elite level, HMH consistently meets strict national benchmarks by administering clot-busting medication within 60 minutes or less of hospital arrival for at least 85% of eligible acute ischemic stroke patients—drastically improving recovery potential and reducing the risk of long-term disability.
The Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll distinction addresses the vital link between metabolic health, stroke, and heart disease. Adults with type 2 diabetes face a significantly higher risk of experiencing severe cardiovascular complications. This honor certifies that HMH consistently follows specialized, evidence-based care guidelines for diabetic patients hospitalized for stroke, including tailored therapies, proven risk-reduction strategies, and structured post-discharge care to foster better long-term health and lower readmission rates.
Together, these recognitions demonstrate Huntsville Memorial Hospital’s commitment to putting leading-edge medical science into daily practice, giving Walker County and neighboring communities immediate access to exceptional, life-saving stroke care close to home.
