Huntsville Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center

Vigilant, Responsive Care in Walker County

Millions of patients throughout the country struggle with chronic wounds that are difficult to treat and heal. Diabetes, age, weak immune systems, and poor circulation can all contribute to wound complications. Nearly two million Americans a year suffer from wound complications due to their diabetes alone.

These wounds that are susceptible to healing complications include:

  • Pressure ulcers ("bed sores")
  • Wounds from trauma
  • Surgical incisions
  • Vascular ulcers
  • Diabetic Foot Ulcers

About HMH Wound Care Center

Our Huntsville Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center is an outpatient facility dedicated to helping patients struggling with slow or non-healing wounds. We have a 99.59% heal rate and a patient satisfaction score of 95.26%. We are also one of the few select "Center of Distinction Wound Care Facilities." Our programs provide the most advanced therapies and the latest clinical modalities to treat problem wounds and offer hyperbaric therapy when needed.

These therapies include:

  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Laboratory testing/evaluation
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Pain management
  • Diabetic education
  • Radiology
  • Debridement
  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
  • Infectious disease treatment/management

For up to 16% of slow-healing wounds, HMH utilizes Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This therapy allows a patient to breath 100% oxygen while resting in a pressurized chamber. The high concentration of oxygen introduced into the bloodstream promotes/quickens the healing process.
