Our "New Beginnings" Program
Congratulations on your pregnancy! We are excited to share this journey
with you. We are happy to be at your side during this time in your life
and feel that it's our honor to experience one of life's greatest
joys alongside you and your family. Whether this is your first baby or
your third, we know that every pregnancy is different as is every child.
Questions or concerns might occur during this time and we want you to
know we are happy to assist you in any way that we can.
About the class
The classes are held on Saturdays, from 9am-5pm every other month and will
include a tour of the hospital where you can learn what to expect during
your visit and an opportunity to preregister for your hospital stay. These
classes will include preregistration, baby care, breastfeeding and prepared
childbirth. The class will cost $25 for mom and one support person. Lunch
& breakfast will be provided and payment can be accepted the day of
class at the cashier's office near admitting.
The class includes
Prepared Childbirth: This will ease some of your anxiety and questions
regarding the labor & delivery process. We will talk to you about
how to time your contractions, when to come to the hospital, what to expect
when you get here, the stages of labor and how to naturally manage labor.
We will also discuss what happens during and immediately after delivery.
Baby Care Workshop: Here you will learn basic infant care such as feeding,
diapering, bathing, sleeping habits and playing with your baby. Infant
safety will also be discussed. This is a great time to talk with one of
our nursery staff and ask any questions you may have.
Breastfeeding: Taught by our trained nursing staff and packed with information,
you are sure to leave feeling prepared, comfortable and ready to give
your baby one of the best gifts you can give him/her. Whether you are
certain that you will breastfeed, or if you just need more information
before making your decision, this class if for you!
We look forward to meeting you and your family soon. If you have any questions
you can call or email: 936.291.4285 or beginnings@huntsvillememorial.com
