Our "Beginnings" Program
Greetings and congratulations on your pregnancy! At Huntsville Memorial
Hospital Women’s services, we're excited to share in this journey
with you. We feel so blessed to be at your side during this time in your
life and feel that it's an honor to experience one of life's greatest
joys alongside you and your family! Whether this is your first baby or
your third, we know that every pregnancy is different, as is every child.
Question or concerns might occur during this time and we want you to know
we are happy to assist you in any way that we can.
Our Perinatal Classes
Our perinatal classes are combined in one day. It is held on a Saturday
every other month. We will cover prepared childbirth, baby care, and breastfeeding.
It will also, include a tour of the hospital where you can learn what
to expect with your stay here for you and your new baby.
The first class is the Prepared Childbirth. This class is sure to ease some of your anxiety
and questions regarding the labor and delivery process. We will discuss
how to time your contractions, when to come to the hospital, what to expect
when you get here, the stages of labor and how to naturally manage labor,
and then what happens during the delivery and immediately after.
The second class is the Baby Care Workshop! Here you will learn basic infant care that
every new parent needs to know such as feeding, diapering, bathing, sleeping
habits, infant safety and playing with your baby. This is a great time
to talk with one of our nursery staff and ask any questions you may have.
The third class is the Breastfeeding Class. It is one of the most popular classes that
we offer, and is taught by our very own Lactation Consultant. Packed with
information, you are sure to leave feeling very prepared, comfortable
and ready to give your baby one of the best gifts you can give him/her.
Whether you are certain that you will breastfeed, or if you just need
more information before making your decision, this class is for you!!
The last session you will learn car seat safety and if you bring your car seat, you will
learn how to install it in your own car. This class is taught by Amy Moser
who is a child passenger safety technician.

The class will include pre-registration, baby care, breastfeeding and prepared
childbirth. The class will cost $ 25 for mom and a support person. Lunch
will be provided. Payment will be accepted on the day of the class at
the cashier's office near admitting.
