Huntsville Memorial Hospital Named "Great Place to Practice"
Prestigious Distinction from
Medical Economics Magazine
Huntsville Memorial Hospital has been recognized as a great place to practice
medicine by
Medical Economics magazine, which also lists Texas as the best state for doctors.
In a July 10, cover story titled "America's best places to practice,"
the magazine also points out that in No. 1 Texas, the "Best town
you never heard of" is Huntsville, "surrounded by the Sam Houston
National Forest and includes Huntsville Memorial Hospital and Sam Houston
State University."
Reasons Medical Economics cites for Texas' status as the best place
to practice medicine include a variety of cities with excellent medical
centers, the absence of a state income tax, great compensation, low real
estate costs, and tort reform in 2003 that "makes Texas a leader
in low-cost malpractice liability insurance despite being the second-most
populous state in the nation."
