Statistically speaking, 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. Most of these women will not have a family history of breast cancer.
Five year survival rate is over 90% if caught early (Stage 0) versus 15% if not discovered until it spreads to other parts of the body (Stage IV). This is why early detection saves lives. If you are over 40 you should be getting an annual screening mammogram.
High Technology and Compassion Meet:
Huntsville Memorial Hospital is proud to offer our community the most advanced digital mammography system on the market today: Hologic Selenia. The Selenia delivers increased diagnostic confidence at a lower radiation dose when compared to conventional mammography.
This means that potential cancers are found earlier, when they are the most treatable. Huntsville Memorial Hospital also offers you the opportunity to discuss your mammogram with the radiologist during your exam visit. The radiologist will explain the mammogram results and discuss any additional imaging that may be required, and why.
At Huntsville Memorial Hospital, youʼre more than just our patients - youʼre our neighbors, our friends, and our families.
